Greetings from Ryan Flint, Minister of Music
I am so glad that you have taken the time to check out the Beaver Dam Worship Ministry online. We seek to provide multiple opportunities to all ages for both personal and corporate worship. Believing that authentic worship is communion with God where we as believers focus our affection and attention on Him, it is our desire to prepare worshipers of all ages not only to 'come and worship' but to develop a lifestyle of worship, as well. Our Adult Worship Choir, Spirit Winds orchestra and praise team(s), Silvertones Senior Adult choir, NextGen Student choir and Children's choirs are encouraged and enabled to be lead worshipers, pressing beyond the performance aspect of the music. Our desire is to worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness (Psalm 96:9), deflecting all glory, honor and praise to the One that is worthy.
If you want to get involved in the BDBC worship ministry, please contact us here in the worship office (865-925-9323) for more information; we would relish the opportunity to get you and your family involved as we seek to worship the King!
In His service,
Minister of Music
The Adult Worship Choir at Beaver Dam plays an important role in the corporate worship that takes place each Sunday morning. We strive to honor the Lord, using music and worship as a means to point others towards the truth of the Gospel. We, as believers, are urged to become worshipers, not just singers, understanding that worship is an "attitude of the heart, not a musical style." We believe and strive to practice Colossians 3:16: "Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God." Our choir members are subjected to all different styles and types of music, and the only constant is that the lyrics be theologically sound and honoring to God. In addition to supporting our worship services, the choir participates in community events and leads in a yearly Christmas musical. This is not an auditioned group, and we would love to have you join us as we lead in worship at Beaver Dam. We meet every Wednesday for rehearsal at 6:30 PM in the Choir Rehearsal Room (immediately below the Sanctuary choir loft in Building C).
Feel free to join us in practice this Wednesday night! If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact our Minister of Music Ryan Flint.
Psalm 149:1 says, "Praise ye the Lord. sing unto the Lord a new song, and His praise in the congregation of the saints." Therein lies the purpose and goal of this group: to glorify the Lord while edifying the body of Christ. Our praise team is an auditioned group of devoted Worship Choir members that participate in leading worship on Sunday mornings. Our praise team is comprised of four "teams" made up of individuals whose lives are consistent with what they sing from the platform each week. These groups assist our Minster of Worship in being lead-worshippers and play an important role in the corporate worship that takes place each week at BDBC. This group is encouraged to think and act as servant leaders in the worship setting as well as in their daily lives. The Praise Team rehearses Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:30 PM in the Ensemble Room (Building C); and rehearses with the band in the Worship Center on Wednesday nights after Adult Choir rehearsal.
This adult orchestra ensemble is made up of a combination of different instruments (brass, woodwind, percussion, and rhythm) and includes members who range in age from senior high students through adult. Members should have a basic knowledge of reading music and some experience playing in a group. This group routinely provides accompaniment for choral numbers, congregational numbers and special musical presentations at BDBC. On occasion, they present separate musical instrumental offerings.
Spirit Winds Orchestra rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 PM in the Orchestra Room (2nd floor of the Education Building). Please contact the Music Office (865-925-9323) if you are interested in this activity.
he Silvertones Senior Adult choir is truly an energetic group of people focused on fellowship, singing with energy and worshiping our mighty God! They have been involved in state-wide events and regional Tune-Shares and have traveled to many other churches to share their heart-felt messages in song with other senior adult groups. They lead in worship on several occasions during the year and present worship musicals form time to time. The group is open to all regardless of musical background. This group meets every other Monday morning at 10:30 AM for rehearsal in the Choir Room (below the Sanctuary choir loft).
If you are looking to join this great group or would like more information on the current schedule and opportunities please contact us in the worship office (865-922-2322).
Psalm 146: "While I live, I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being."
NextGen Student Worship is a group of young people (grades 6-12) that love the Lord and have a passion for worship and music. NextGen students participate in leading worship several times a year in our Sunday evening services and also form the praise team and band that lead worship on Wednesday nights in our student ministry- the Neighborhood. Students in this ministry can serve through singing, playing an instrument and running sound or visuals. NextGen provides an opportunity for young people to learn about worship - who God is, why we worship, how we should worship, and discover what it means to live a lifestyle of worship. This group is also involved in ministry beyond the BDBC campus. In the past they have attended "The Youth Project" on the Carson Newman campus and been involved in summer events such as "SonPower" as well as various mission trips. We chose the name "NextGen" to emphasize the fact that these students are the lead-worshippers of tomorrow, and as such we want to give Him our all in worship today. Our signature verse is 1 Timothy 4:12: "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity." NextGen meets August through May on Sunday evenings from 5:00-6:00pm in the choir room below the Sanctuary in Building C. If you are interested, please just stop by and check it out! If you have any questions about NextGen or would like some more information please email our Minister of Music, Ryan Flint or phone him at (865) 922-2322.
For children age 3 - grade 5, we have added a music element to our AWANA program. AWANA begins at 5:50 on Wednesday evenings in the Sanctuary during the school year.
