We Believe in Serving Others
At Beaver Dam, we believe in service to others. Jesus said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)
In that Great Commission, we seek to serve others in making disciples locally and to the nations.
In 2017, plans are underway to serve others ...
During the school year, Beaver Dam members mentor at Adrian Burnett Elementary School and other local schools. Mentoring provides an encouragement to students in their schoolwork and home life. All contacts happen at the school during the school day. At ABES, mentors meet with the same student every other week for 30 minutes. Times are flexible to best meet your personal schedule. For more information, contact the Missions Office.
Love Local Ministry
Throughout the year, Beaver Dam reaches out into the neighborhoods where God planted this church 230 years ago. This outreach involves feeding neighbors both physically and spiritually. In recent years, this ministry continues to grow into many elements of everyday life.
Jeans for Teens
Provides clothing for teen aged students in area schools. Vouchers are available from school offices. The ministry provides a special offering in February 2017. "True Radiance Nights" gives teenage girls some ideas on how to change up their style to reflect both an inner and outer beauty. Join salon owner and style expert Marlene Lambert for a night of food and fun each Thursday in February (2, 9, 16, 23) from 5:30-6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall.
A day camp setting, reaching children in Grades 1-5, helping them develop and grow a relationship with Jesus Christ. This year, we plan to offer 3 weeks of camp in July. Children can attend all three weeks and experience elements of Bible Study, games, recreation, drama, music, and developmental projects to best prepare for the coming school year. If you would like to volunteer, contact Tim Hopkins in the church office.
Knox County Association of Baptists
Beaver Dam partners with 150 Southern Baptist Churches in Knox County. For more information on missions and ministry across the county, visit the KCAB.org website.
Ministry to Meet Needs
Throughout the year, new ministry needs develop in the community. Watch for other opportunities as they develop.
North American Missions
Southern Baptists support over 5,000 missionaries throughout North America. To view some of the NAMB work and opportunities to serve, visit the NAMB.net website.
Beaver Dam relates to more than 4,000 missionaries through the Southern Baptist Convention. Visit IMB.org to see missions underway around the world. Several missionaries have grown up at Beaver Dam before God called them to serve internationally. Each year, mission teams travel to serve alongside these missionaries and others with whom we share a partnership.
One such partnership with Beaver Dam exists in a European church. Joining with the Tennessee Baptist Convention's effort, as well as that of the Knox County Association of Baptists, we partner with the local church to reach the province with the gospel. In 2015, a group of college students became the first team to travel and participate in this work. In 2016, we continued by sending an adult team and also partnered with other Knox County churches to send a youth and college team to expand the effort. 2017 will see an expanded effort.
